   Course Description

Students will learn about the Symbol Wireless Switch 2000 Architecture, and how to configure, manage, and integrate the Symbol WS2000 Wireless Switch into an enterprise network. This course covers Command Line Interface Configuration and Web Configuration. Other features covered include Firewall, NAT, Router, WLAN Security, VPN, and WAN configuration.


   Course Objectives

After completing this course the student should be able to:

  • Describe the features of a Wireless Switch 2000
  • Navigate the Command Line, and web interfaces
  • Configure the Wireless Switch 2000 and access ports
  • Configure subnet and WAN access
  • Assign WLANs to subnets
  • Configure WLAN security


   Prerequisites / Required Courses

Knowledge of:

  • Wireless networks, in particular 802.11
  • Wired networks, including L2 switching, TCP/IP, DHCP, NAT, PAT and L3 routing (RIP)
  • VLANs
  • Quality of Service
  • Switch or router configuration experience is also helpful
